Week of October 13: Another sloppy week of wind, waves and seaweed

People fishing off a pier, with fishing rods and gear in a crowded setting near the water.
We didn't receive an Angler of the Week photo, so we thought we'd share a recent image of the action at the north jetty. Please send in a picture and the details of your fishing trip to the inlet by using the Contact Form on our website.  Pictures work best vertically and if you center the person with their catch, leaving room on the sides.

Today's forecast calls for sunny skies, a high of 80 degrees, NNE winds of 10 mph and four to five-foot seas.

Our fishing guide, "Snookman" Wayne Landry offers a brief and doleful report on the fishing conditions at Sebastian Inlet:

“Good morning, Sebastian Inlet fanatics! I trust everyone enjoyed the pleasant weekend. Here we go with another NOT-so-hot report, primarily due to the nasty ocean conditions at the inlet  last week and through the weekend. The big swell and surf, tons of seaweed and the brisk NNE winds have made a mess of the inlet. Most of Saturday was marked by on-and-off rain squalls. There were some anglers out, but no fish except for the usual catfish, jacks and blue runners, all on the north jetty as the high tide submerged the south jetty, rendering it unsafe.

I don't have anything new to report except that in a couple more days the swell will drop down, but by Thursday it is supposed to pick back up to around six feet again, and the NNE winds after Monday are expected pick back up to the 15 to 20 mph range, keeping the inlet and surrounding area in turmoil. At least we can expect mild temps and plenty of sun.

I'm sorry I don't have any GOOD fishing news, but it is what it is. I don't fluff things up just to lure you out; I only report what I see and hear and tell it like it is. Have a great week, get out and enjoy the awesome weather!” — Snookman.
