Week of November 2: Nothing to report other than closed jetties and terrible conditions

A coastal pier extends into a turbulent sea, with waves crashing against rocks under a cloudy sky.
Here is what conditions looked like at the north jetty last week. Thanks to Snookman, our fishing guide, for sending photos.

Today's (November 2) forecast calls for intense thunderstorms, a high of 77 degrees, four to six-foot seas and East winds of 15 mph.

Due to the foul weather and closed jetties, "Snookman" Wayne Landry's fishing report is brief:

"Hello, all you Sebastian Inlet fans!

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend despite all the wind and rain. This week is going to be much the same weather-wise, with wind and rain, but hopefully not as bad as it has been!

It's supposed to calm down by Thursday, with winds subsiding into the 8–10 mph range. My coastal surf report also shows the seas dropping to 3–4 feet by then as well.

The water will continue to be very dirty, with lots of seaweed, for a while longer. Water temperatures are hovering around 75 degrees, which should bring in some cooler-water species for this time of year once the water cleans back up. But we'll have to wait and see how that all plays out.

Unfortunately, there's no fishing report this week due to BOTH jetties being closed because of the strong winds, high surf, and king tides. Nobody has been fishing the back of the inlet on either side, either.

There's no word yet on when the north jetty might reopen. In the meantime, please call the North Ranger Station at 321-984-4852 or check the webcam before heading down so you don't make an unnecessary trip."

Have a great week, everyone!
