Week of November 10: A lovely mix of drum, whiting, snook and more are yours for the catching

Today's (Nov. 10) forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a high of 71 degrees at 11 a.m. Temperatures will continue to drop until they reach 53 degrees at night. Seas are flat (zero to one foot). On Tuesday, the high will only reach 62 degrees, but the weather will warm to the mid 70s throughout the rest of the week.
Everyone's favorite fishing guide, "Snookman" Wayne Landry says the action is picking up:
"Good morning all you Sebastian Inlet fans, I hope everyone had a great weekend, it sure was nice out there! Here's this week's report, things are picking up a bit.
North jetty: Over here, all the action was on the incoming high tide and at the very beginning of the outgoing at the tip. Live shrimp was the ticket for the snook, plenty of undersized fish were caught, at the tip, and a couple slots were taken home. Boaters fishing on the north side of the jetty were doing well, also. A couple of black drum and whiting were taken as well on the shrimp. Outgoing tide was all jacks and some bluefish on just about anything fished at the tip — lots of action. Back towards the beach in the surf there was a decent whiting bite for a few folks using cut dead shrimp. One angler reported his catch of 14 nice fish they caught in the surf pocket area, and a couple of pompano.
South jetty: Over here, the water was a tad dirtier and made the fishing a bit slower. I didn't see any snook caught Sunday by shore anglers, or the boaters on the incoming tide. The outgoing tide at the tip was a bit active with small blues and plenty of jacks being caught on everything fished. The guys fishing with cut shrimp were catching sand perch, whiting, mackerel and a couple of huge croakers about 12 to 14 Inches long! I haven't seen any of those for a long time. They are fished commercially up in the Carolinas. Great eating. Also, I did hear about nice pompano on sandfleas in the picket area and at the tip.
T- dock area: Back here on the dock, the fishing has been pretty slow, a couple of small snappers, a few black drum and sheepshead were caught on dead and live shrimp. The snook bite has been decent for the boaters fishing the shoreline west of the dock. Live pins and pigs were the baits of choice. Also caught on the dock, lured by just about anything tossed to the channel area, were the jack crevalle. They are everywhere now!
Surf area, both sides: With the water being a bit cleaner than it has been, especially on the north side, whiting have been on the prowl in the trough area. Live and dead cut shrimp is the baits of choice. Also in the mix, I heard of a few nice pompano and a couple of black drum caught. South surf has been about the same, but the water was a tad dirtier, but they were catching fish on shrimp and sandfleas. Whiting, some pompano, a couple of big croakers that I mentioned earlier, and of course the ever-present puffers! Almost forgot to mention the small blues caught on both sides surf as well.
Well, that's it for this week my friends and fans! Thank you for all you folks that say hello to me when I'm out there working. You’re the reason I keep going down there, to educate and help out our resources, and keep the park safe. Thank you all! If you get out this week, remember, it's going to be chilly the next few mornings. Stay well.” — Snookman.
