Week of July 6:  Mangrove Snapper are running!

Tommy at Sebastian Inlet Bait & Tackle tells the fishing has really picked up.  Mangrove Snapper are running throughout the inlet and in the backwaters hitting on their favorite bait, live shrimp.  You have your choice of fishing spots at the Park to target these guys from land.

Spanish Mackerel have been running pretty good too we hear.  They are biting on little spoons, jigs and Gotcha lures.  Your best bet – try the North and South jetties.

We have been getting reports of massive Red Drum, again throughout the inlet system, with a few smaller keepers in between.  Use live shrimp here too and please remember your bag and size limits.  Read more here.

Some Tarpon and big Permit have been seen at night off the North Jetty.  Tarpon are hitting on flare jigs and shallow diving plugs.  Permit will hit live shrimp or crab, if you can find them.  Tommy even tells us there’s been some Barracuda around too, so watch out.

A hearty congratulations to our featured angler of the week – B.D. David.  He caught and released this 32” Red Drum on a small pinfish on the outgoing afternoon tide just West of the bridge fishing from a boat.  This was his first time to Sebastian Inlet and he “can’t wait to go back, he’s hooked!”  Thanks for sending in your story and pics.

If you want to be featured as our angler of the week, use the Contact Form to send us the details of your catch with photos (horizontal and vertical, please).

A reminder to check out our Fishing Report from last week with Red Snapper season coming up this weekend (July 10-12).  As always, check our webcam for real-time weather and views of the entire inlet system, tide charts and more to plan your next fishing trip to the inlet.

Go drop a line and have a great week!
