Week of December 22: Turbid, weedy water translates to a brief fishing report

A group of anglers fishing off a pier with rods, enjoying a sunny day by the water.
The gang is clustered at the tip of the south jetty.  Please send us your Angler of the Week photos. We love sharing fishing photos.  Please send in a picture and the details of your fishing trip to the inlet by using the Contact Form on our website.  Pictures work best vertically and if you center the person with their catch, leaving room on the sides.

Today’s (December 22) forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, a high of 77 degrees, ENE winds at 16 mph and three to four-foot seas.

Our fishing guide, “Snookman” Wayne Landry offers a shorter-than-usual report due to poor water quality conditions:

“Good morning, my Sebastian Inlet friends and family! I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend weather. It was wonderful! Unfortunately, this will be a short report. As I always say, I tell it like it is — no fluff just to get you out there.  Water conditions were dirty and weedy everywhere! On Sunday, while I was down working the park, I spent three hours chatting with everyone, and the fishing was slow on both sides and the back at the T-dock and cleaning station. About the only fish caught were small jacks, blue runners, bluefish, and lookdowns on the south jetty. Oh, and some kitty fish. Dead shrimp, live shrimp, and cut clams. That's pretty much all the action, so yeah, really slow. Even the boaters fishing flounder were striking out!

That's it for this report. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be windy, with the surf kicking up a tad, so it will probably stay dirty. I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. Maybe Santa Fish will come see you if you venture out! Have a great week all! — Snookman.
