The 2026 sea turtle nesting  update at Sebastian Inlet has begun.  The counts include beaches to the north and south of the inlet (Zones A-F), and as of today, survey teams have identified:

Loggerhead - 1,207

Greens - 251

Leatherback - 12

Kemps – 0

 

Total – 1,470

Sebastian Inlet District works in tandem with park officials and employs biologists to conduct daily surveys on the beaches just South of Sebastian Inlet – along a one-half mile stretch starting near McLarty Treasure Museum and continuing South to Ambersand beach access in Indian River County.  District monitoring efforts began on March 1 and will continue through the end of the nesting season in October.
