Quarterly cleanup nets 19 pounds of trash

Group of volunteers and rangers with trash collected at a beach cleanup.

A huge thank you to the volunteers who removed 19.4 pounds of trash from the north shore of Sebastian Inlet during our quarterly cleanup event held on may 10. In about an hour, volunteers removed buckets of cigarette butts, beer cans, small plastics, monofilament and even a pair of soiled underwear from the shoreline. The quarterly cleanups are sponsored by the District and our partners at Sebastian Inlet State Park and Coastal Connections, Inc., an environmental organization based in Vero Beach.
