A Red Snapper mini-season reopening has been approved! The reopening is due to the inclement weather that hampered offshore fishing during the November mini-season and is scheduled for December 8 – 11. There is a recreational bag limit of one per person per day with no minimum size limit, please check the FWC web site for commercial regulations. The 2018 recreational mini-season dates have not yet been announced.
Winds are blowing out of North at 9 mph, gusting to 11 and there is a moderate chop on the water. Sunday’s full moon us bringing extreme tides but the weekend forecast for boating looks fair.
The bite had a bit of a lull in bite according to Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop. Yesterday was a quiet day with just a few Snook and Blues coming over the rails of the north jetty. One of the inlet regulars said that one day it would be real hot and the next time they went to the inlet, it was just luke warm. Still, fall is a great time to get out and enjoy the weather and good variety of migrating species. This morning Black Drum, Snook and a few Pompano are rounding out the catches from the north jetty. It’s a gorgeous day at the Sebastian Inlet, get out and wet a line!
Our photos today are courtesy of Tony Minnick of Floridana Beach. Tony had his sons Chase visiting from Tequesta and Max and his wife Becky from Cheyenne, WY for Thanksgiving. They wasted no time getting out on the water on Black Friday. They had a great time and landed a lot of fish including 12 Snook, 2 Reds, 2 Jacks and 2 big Sting Rays. Everything was released except the slot Snook. Tony reported that as usual, Max’s wife Becky out-fished everyone! Chase took the honor of the biggest fish with a huge oversized Red. Fighting the fish sure beat fighting the crowds at the mall. Nice going Minnick family!
Photo one is of Chase Minnick of Tequesta with a huge C/R Redfish that was safely released right after the photo. Great catch Chase! Photo two features Becky Minnick of Cheyenne, WY with a hefty slot Snook. Way to go Becky! Photo three features Tony Minnick who is in his element fishing with the family AND landing a slot Snook! Photo four is of Chase with an oversized C/R Snook and our last photo features Becky with another nice Snook. Awesome job!
Send in your photos and fishing updates!
