09-03-10 FRIDAY: SNAPPER, JACKS, LADYFISH, SNOOK AND REDS
REMINDER; SNOOK SEASON IS CLOSED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 16TH.
It's a real pretty day at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the west southwest at 3 mph and there are some nice clean waves for the surfers out there.
Fishing remains on the slow side. A few Mangrove and Mutton Snapper were landed yesterday off the north jetty. Jacks and Ladyfish have been plentiful in the evening hours along with oversized Reds, catch and release Snook and an ocassional Tarpon. Summertime is usually slow during the hot daylight hours and this summer has been no exception. Fish seem to be more active and cooperate a little better after the sun goes down.
Our angler of the day is Jon Talha. Jon and fishing buddy Mike Salmon were fishing the north catwalk last night and using bucktails, landed this beautiful Tarpon. Jon released the Tarpon unharmed after the photo. This was Jon's first inlet catch, very nice! Photo courtesy of Mike Salmon, thanks Mike!
Have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend. Our next update will be Tuesday, September 7th. Send in your photos and updates!

09-02-10 THURSDAY: REDS, SNOOK, JACKS AND LADYFISH
Hurricane Earl is bringing us wind, choppy water and surf! Winds are blowing out of the east northeast at 14 mph this morning. The waves aren't huge but they are decent and rideable. Surfing conditions are expected to improve through tomorrow and should be good throughout the long weekend. We love those hurricanes that stay off the coast just enough to bring us good surf!
Fishing has been slow. We received an update from night angler Kurush Akbari of Palm Bay who ventured to the inlet with a buddy last night. Ladyfish were abundant. Kurush knew that the rope on his drop net was wearing thin but thought he could get one more fishing trip out of it. His buddy hooked up with his first Snook ever and Kurush dropped the net to retrieve the 20 lb fish and yep, the rope broke and his drop net ended up at the bottom of the inlet. Kurush grabbed the line and was able to pull the fish up onto the jetty very carefully. When he started to take a photo, the camera was dead! The Snook was returned to the water and the night ended short. After purchasing a new net and rope, Kurush will squeeze in another trip to the inlet between work and school, hopefully with much better luck next time! Thanks Kurush.
Our photo today features inlet regular Mike RIcciardi of Vero Beach taken a few weeks ago on the north jetty. Mike was fighting some huge that gave him a good workout before breaking off the line. Locals seemed to think it was a big Goliath Grouper.

09-01-10 RE: REDS, SNOOK AND POMPANO
SNOOK SEASON IS CLOSED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 16TH!!
It's a blustery but very nice day at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the east southeast at 19 mph this morning and the water is choppy.
Yesterday was slow, there were a few Pompano runs, they were hitting clams and a couple of keeper Reds were landed at the start of the afternoon incoming tide. The Reds were landed on live shrimp.
Our first photo today features 7 year old Christian Rutherford of Kissimmee. Christian landed his Mangrove Snapper on Saturday using live shrimp on a 2/0 circle hook. He released it after the photo so it could grow a little more. Nice job Christian! Photo courtesy of proud grandmother Cynthia Rutherford.
Our second photo is of John Rhodes of Marietta, GA with a nice oversized Red he landed last week using live shrimp. Photo courtesy of Mike Ricciardi, thanks Mike!
Our last photo today is of "field correspondent" Mike Ricciardi. Mike landed his oversized Red last Friday morning using live shrimp on the incoming tide. The Red was released unharmed after the photo.
Send us your photos and updates!

08-31-10 TUESDAY: REDS, SNOOK, MARGATE, SNAPPER, LADYFISH AND JACKS
This morning winds are blowing out of the south southeast at 16 mph and the water is choppy.
Waves were crashing over the jetties yesterday according to Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike reported a slow morning on the north jetty with just one Snook and one oversized Red landed. Many Jacks and Ladyfish were landed in the morning hours and a couple of Mangrove and Mutton Snapper were landed off the catwalk. Thanks for the update Mike!
The afternoon picked up according to Walton at the Bait and Tackle Shop. More Reds, even a couple of keepers, a few Snook, some good sized Margate in the 4 - 5 lb range and some big Jacks were brought over the rails. A lot of finger mullet were in the water. Thanks for the udpate Walton!
Our first photo today is of Lydia Le of Sebastian. Lydia was fishing the outgoing tide off the south jetty on Tuesday when she landed this 32" Snook using an X-Rap. Lydia released this beautiful Snook unharmed after the photo. Nice catch Lydia!
The next four photos were send in by Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Photo # 2 is of Lou Llewellyn of Sebastian. Lou landed his 18.5" Mutton Snapper Tuesday using live mojarra.
Photo # 3 is of Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike landed his oversized Red using a live greenie.
Photo # 4 is of inlet regular Tony Swiderski of Sebastian. Tony landed his oversized Red Friday morning using live shrimp. Tony landed six oversized Reds Friday morning, you can bet he was one tired fisherman!
Photo # 5 is of another inlet regular, Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach. Chuck landed his oversized Red using live shrimp on Friday morning.
Thanks for the photos Mike!

08-30-10 MONDAY: MANGROVE AND MUTTON SNAPPER, POMPANO, SNOOK AND REDS
Winds are blowing out of the south southeast at 12 mph this morning and there is a chop on the water. We didn't get the great surf we expected over the weekend but Hurricane Earl is supposed to come within 300 miles of the coast and it could generate some nice waves.
Anglers are still landing those oversized Reds and catch and release Snook mainly on the tide changes. REMINDER: Snook season is closed through September 15th. Some nice Mangrove and Mutton Snapper were landed over the weekend and Pompano were biting clams on Sunday. There are a lot of greenies in the water.
We have some nice photos today which we were unable to post last week due to computer issues. We will get all the photos up this week. Our first four photos are from Richard Barrett of St. Petersburg. Richard and Dan Ludwig traveled from St. Pete to meet his brother who came from Jacksonville and Charlie and Isaac Allen at the inlet Tuesday night. The bite started around 11:00 p.m. with a nice 35" Red landed by Richard who was using finger mullet. As soon as Richard returned his Red to the water, Isaac Allen hooked up with a nice Snook using live shrimp. At 12:15 a.m. Charlie Allen landed an oversized Red using finger mullet. Richard reported some real nice, big runs on large mullet. The men are looking forward to their next rendezvous at the inlet. Thanks for the photos and update Richard!
Our last photo today is of Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach with an oversized Red landed off the north jetty Wednesday morning using live shrimp. Photo courtesy of Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Thanks Mike!

08-27-10 FRIDAY: BIG REDS, SNOOK, SPANISH MACKEREL, MANGROVE AND MUTTON SNAPPER
Good morning, Anglers! We apologize for not updating the fishing report since Tuesday. If you are familiar with the 'dreaded blue screen' on a computer, you will know we had some trouble with our equipment. This morning the Inlet Bait & Tackle shop reported that fishing has been a bit slow this week. There are schools of bait (greenies) that are hanging around and seem to be the bait of choice along with live shrimp. The catch this week so far includes Snook, Bull Reds, Spanish Mackerel, and both Mangrove and Mutton Snapper. We do not have pictures to attach to the report today, but next week we promise to be up and running as usual. The weekend is supposed to be decent weather, so take your fishing rigs to the beautiful Sebastian Inlet and send in your updates, photos, and fishing tales! Have a safe and fun-filled weekend.

08-24-10 TUESDAY: SNOOK, REDS, MANGROVE SNAPPER
I's a real nice morning at the inlet. We have some cloud cover and winds are blowing out of the west at 11 mph. The water is very calm and catch and release Snook are biting this morning.
We received an update from Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach who fished the north jetty yesterday. Mike reported that Mangrove Snapper were biting between 6:30 and 10:00 a.m., there were 15 - 20 landed on shrimp, mojarra and greenies. At the end of the incoming tide between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m., 30 -40 Redfish came over the rails and just about any bait was working; live shrimp, mojarra and greenies were the most prevalent. There were several keeper Reds landed during that time frame and everybody got pretty excited at the prospect of taking one home. In our first photo today Lou Llewellyn and Larry Robison pose with their 26" and 26.5" Reds. Very nice! Thanks for the update and photo Mike!
Our second photo today is of Khaled Eissa with a Snook landed Saturday night on live pinfish. The Snook was released unharmed after the photo.
REMINDER: Snook season will be closed until September 16th.
Send in your photos and updates!
