Coconut Point Erosion Control Project
A restoration of Coconut Point (the west end of the south side of the inlet) is currently being designed and permitted. The loss of shoreline due to erosion has been significant between 2004 – 2009, losing 121′ of shoreline which is impeding navigation around the Point.
The District, Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) and the Florida Department of State Parks will be partnering together to fund the shoreline restoration and erosion control project. The project will be funded 50% by FIND, 25% by the State Park and 25% by the District.
