09-05-17 Tuesday: Snook, Reds, Snapper, Ladyfish and Jacks

In preparation for Hurricane Irma we are removing grates to prevent loss. Portions of the north jetty will be closed starting tomorrow morning.

Please send your fishing photos, updates and inquiries to nmaxwell@sitd.us. Our inquiry system isn’t accepting photos.

Winds are blowing out of the North at 3 mph, gusting to 4 and there is a light chop on the water. Conditions will deteriorate through the week as Hurricane Irma approaches the state.

Snook season is underway and over the weekend, the bite was good. We have a lot of baitfish in the water and they are attracting the predators. We’re seeing Mangrove Snapper, big Reds, a lot of oversized Snook and some keepers as well. An occasional Permit will find its way to our jetty anglers. Get out and get in on the action!

Alan Xie landed this beautiful Permit off the north jetty last week. What a nice catch Alan!
